1. A coordinate detection apparatus comprising:

  • a resistance film formed on a substrate made of an insulating material;

    a plurality of resistance-film removal areas formed on a marginal area of the substrate,wherein each resistance film removal area is formed by removing the resistance film from an area of the substrate,wherein each resistance film removal area forms isolated portions of the resistance film such that each isolated portion of the resistance film is electrically insulated from all other portions of the resistance film and each isolated portion of the resistance film is bordered by one resistance film removal area,a common electrode configured to apply a voltage to the resistance film and to the isolated portions of the resistance film, the common electrode extending along the marginal area of the substrate and aligned along an edge of the substrate; and

    a voltage application part configured to apply the voltage to the common electrode,wherein the voltage is applied from the voltage application part to the resistance film and to the isolated portions of the resistance film through the common electrode to generate a potential distribution in the resistance film,wherein a coordinate position of a contact position at which the resistance film is contacted is detected by detecting a potential of the resistance film at the contact position,wherein the resistance-film removal areas are configured and arranged so that a uniform potential distribution is generated in the resistance film when the voltage is applied to the resistance film by the voltage application part, andwherein the resistance-film removal areas are configured and arranged so that a contact area between the common electrode and the resistance film which is not a portion of the isolated portions of the resistance film is gradually reduced from a middle portion of each side of the substrate toward opposite ends of the side.
