1. A method of providing ultrasound treatment of a medium, the method comprising:

  • a) coupling an acoustic source to a region of interest, the region of interest located at a surface of the medium or below the surface of the medium;

    b) delivering a first acoustic energy from the acoustic source into the region of interest, the first acoustic energy configured to create thermal bubbles in the region of interest and form a boundary comprising the thermal bubbles, the boundary defining an inner portion of the region of interest surrounded by the boundary and an outer portion of the region of interest surrounding the inner portion and the boundary; and

    c) delivering a second acoustic energy from the acoustic source into the inner portion of the region of interest, the outer portion of the region of interest, or the boundary.
