Abstract

A method and device of sharing an event or experience by capturing a geographic location of the and at least one detail of the experience or event in the form of data such as video, text, sound, or pictures, with an electronic device, storing the geographic location plus the data on a database accessible to a plurality of users. The application further alerts a user or a plurality of users of the details of the experience when the user is near the geographic location where the at least one detail of the experience was captured and guiding the user to the geographic location where the experience was captured.

Claims

1. A method of sharing an experience, the method comprising:

receiving from an electronic device;

a geographic location of the electronic device; and

at least one detail of a first user'"'"'s experience, the at least one detail of the first user'"'"'s experience including a textual description of the first user'"'"'s experience manually entered into the electronic device by the first user;

communicating the geographic location of the electronic device and the at least one detail of the first user'"'"'s experience to a database accessible to a plurality of users;

identifying when a proximity between a second user and the geographic location is within a preset distance;

providing a plurality of captured user experiences to the second user for selection;

receiving from the second user a selection of at least one of the plurality of captured user experiences;

providing to the second user at least one detail of the selected at least one of the plurality of captured user experiences; and

automatically alerting the second user as a result of a future event notification trigger set by a data-creating user of the selected at least one of the plurality of captured user experiences.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein:

the future event notification trigger is specific to the second user and is set by the data-creating user with personal knowledge of the second user'"'"'s future event.

3. The method according to claim 2, wherein:

the future event is the second user'"'"'s anniversary date.

4. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

guiding the second user to the geographic location where the displayed detail of the selected at least one of the plurality of captured user experiences occurred.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein:

the at least one detail of the first user'"'"'s experience includes at least two distinct non-geographic details of the first user'"'"'s experience.

6. The method according to claim 1, wherein:

the first user'"'"'s experience took place in the past.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein:

the first user'"'"'s experience will take place in the future.

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein:

before the at least one detail of the first user'"'"'s experience is communicated from the electronic device of the first user to the database accessible to the plurality of users, the at least one detail of the first user'"'"'s experience is input by the first user in a set of pre-determined user-input fields specific to a type of experience being captured.

9. A mobile device operable to record an event at a geographical location, the mobile device comprising:

a communication unit communicatively coupled to a database over a wireless network;

a GPS receiver unit operable to determine a geographical location of the communication unit;

a computer display operable to display a user-selectable time interface;

a memory unit operable to;

receive data and a geographical location pertaining to an event;

a processor communicatively coupled to the communication unit, the GPS receiver unit, the computer display, and to the memory unit, the processor operable to;

receive a user-selected time input by the user via the user-selectable time interface;

associate the user-selected time with the event;

transfer the data, the user-selected time; and

the geographical location of the event to the database, wherein the data includes at least one detail of the event, the at least one detail of the event including a textual description of the event manually entered into the mobile device by a user;

provide an alert of at least one other event stored in the database as a result of the mobile device being within a preset distance of a geographical location of the at least one other event;

retrieve over the wireless network data of the at least one other event from the database; and

guide the user to the geographical location of the at least one other event retrieved.

10. The mobile device according to claim 9, wherein the processor is further operable to:

display, on the computer display, predetermined user-input fields that self-populate.

11. The mobile device according to claim 10, wherein:

the predetermined user-input fields self-populate information associated with a proposal, a birthday, an anniversary, a sporting event, and a significant life event.

12. The mobile device according to claim 9, further comprising:

a search menu option displayed on the computer display, the search menu option including user input fields that allow a user to input an alert radius and an alert time; and

wherein the processor is further operable to display a list of events stored in the database that correspond to the alert radius and the alert time input by the user in the user input fields of the search menu option, the alert time restricting the list of event to events occurring within the alert time and the alert radius further restricting the list of events to event occurring within the alert radius.

13. The mobile device according to claim 9, wherein the processor is further operable to:

receive an alert mode set by the user and condition the providing of the alert of the at least one other event to the user based on whether the alert mode is set to on.

14. The mobile device according to claim 9, wherein:

the event will take place in the future.

15. The mobile device according to claim 9, wherein:

before the at least one detail of the event is transferred from the mobile device of the user to the database over the wireless network, the at least one detail of the event is input by the user in a set of pre-determined user-input fields specific to a type of experience being captured.

16. The mobile device according to claim 9, wherein:

the geographical location pertaining to the event is one of;

a location of the mobile device; and

a location manually entered by the user.

17. A method of sharing an experience, the method comprising:

receiving, via an electronic device;

a first geographic location of the electronic device; and

at least one detail of a first user'"'"'s experience, the at least one detail of the first user'"'"'s experience including a textual description of the first user'"'"'s experience manually entered into the electronic device by the first user;

communicating the first geographic location of the electronic device and the at least one detail of the first user'"'"'s experience to a database accessible to a plurality of users;

receiving, via the electronic device, a second geographic location of the electronic device;

receiving at least one detail of a past event from the database, the past event associated with a geographic location within a preset distance from the second geographic location of the electronic device and the past event is not an experience of a data-creating user of the at least one detail of the past event; and

displaying, via the electronic device, the at least one detail of the past event.

18. The method according to claim 17, wherein:

the at least one detail of the first user'"'"'s experience includes at least two distinct non-geographic details of the first user'"'"'s experience.

19. The method according to claim 17, wherein:

the past event is a historical event that pre-dates the data-creating user.

20. The method according to claim 17, wherein:

before the at least one detail of the past event is communicated from the electronic device of the first user to the database accessible to the plurality of users, displaying, via the electronic device, a set of pre-determined user-input fields specific to the type of past event, the set of pre-determined user-input fields operable to receive input by the first user describing the at least one detail therein.
