1. An analyte measuring system, the system comprising:

  • a mounting unit comprising a first side adapted for mounting on the skin of a host and a second side, opposing the first side, wherein the second side comprises an opening, and wherein the mounting unit comprises electrical contacts;

    an electronics unit detachably connectable to the opening in the second side of the mounting unit, wherein the electronics unit comprises electrical contacts;

    a sensor for measuring a level of the analyte comprising an in vivo portion configured for insertion through the skin at an exit site of the host and an ex vivo portion comprising electrode terminals configured for operable connection to the electrical contacts of the electronics unit via the electrical contacts of the mounting unit, whereby the sensor is operably connected to the electronics unit when the electronics unit is detachably connected to the mounting unit; and

    an elastomeric sealing member that fits in the opening on the second side of the mounting unit and is configured to protect the electrical contacts of the mounting unit from moisture, wherein the elastomeric sealing member is non-conductive.
