1. A digital jukebox device operable to play songs on a pay-to-play basis, comprising:

  • processing resources including at least one processor and a memory;

    a non-transitory computer readable storage medium tangibly storing a plurality of songs available for playback via the digital jukebox device, at least some of the songs being divided into a plurality of different lists of songs;

    a display; and

    an adaptable user interface configured to receive input from patrons,wherein the adaptable user interface is controlled by the processing resources to respond to a trigger instruction to (a) enable patron selection and playback of songs from only one of said lists in accordance with a first pricing scheme, and (b) appear as a whole in an overall visually distinctive manner, selected from a plurality of different possible overall visually distinctive manners, defined for the one list from which patrons can select and playback songs in accordance with the first pricing scheme.
