1. An encasement for encasing and sealing an electronic device having a touch-sensitive display, a camera, and a flash, the encasement comprising:

  • a bottom member comprising a front and a back surface, the bottom member being surrounded by a perimeter portion defined by a proximal end portion, a distal end portion, and opposing side portions, the bottom member further comprising a plurality of tapered posts extending up from the perimeter portion of the front surface, each of the tapered posts having a post head that includes a slot to allow the post head to flex during insertion into a receptacle;

    a top member having a rigid frame that corresponds to an outer perimeter of the electronic device and to the perimeter portion of the bottom member, the rigid frame having a plurality of receptacles, each receptacle to receive one of the plurality of tapered posts of the bottom member to mate the top member with the bottom member;

    a gasket positioned at the front surface of the bottom member, the gasket to interface with at least the rigid frame of the bottom member, and a portion of the electronic device; and

    a membrane coupled with the rigid frame and positioned to seal with the gasket of the bottom member and against the rigid frame, the membrane covering the touch-sensitive display of the electronic device when the top member is mated with the bottom member.
