1. A method to control addressable lighting units in one or more buildings, the method comprising:

  • identifying an individual accessing the one or more buildings;

    associating the individual with a work point, the work point comprising a collection of individual lighting units required by the individual when accessing a location outside of working hours;

    determining from the work point at least two work cells associated with the individual in the one or more buildings, each of the two work cells comprising an area that the individual may access in the one or more buildings;

    generate a work cell definition comprising at least one work cell lighting instruction for a first set of addressable lighting units associated with one or all of the at least two work cells;

    determining a work path comprising an area that connects the at least two work cells;

    generating a work path definition comprising at least one work path lighting instruction for a second set of addressable lighting units associated with the work path, wherein the first set of addressable lighting units are different than the second set of addressable lighting units; and

    activating the first and second sets of addressable lighting units located in the at least two work cells and the work path according to the work cell definition and the work path definition.
