  • a lancet holder including a central aperture, the central aperture being configured to receive the lancet assembly therein, the lancet holder having a first end and a second end opposite the first end, the first end of the lancet holder including a first portion and a second portion, the first and second portions being divided by a plurality of gaps, the second end of the lancet holder being formed in the absence of the plurality of gaps;

    a first beam having a first end and a second opposing end, the first end of the first beam being attached to the first portion of the lancet holder;

    a first release button extending from the second opposing end of the first beam;

    a second beam having a third end and a fourth opposing end, the third end of the second beam being attached to the second portion of the lancet holder; and

    a second release button extending from the fourth opposing end of the second beam,wherein, in response to the first release button being depressed, the first beam is configured to separate the first portion of the lancet holder from the second portion of the lancet holder, thereby enlarging the first end of the lancet holder without enlarging the second end of the lancet holder,wherein, in response to the second release button being depressed, the second beam is configured to separate the second portion of the lancet holder from the first portion of the lancet holder, thereby enlarging the first end of the lancet holder without enlarging the second end of the lancet holder,wherein, in response to the first release button and the second release button being depressed simultaneously, the first portion of the lancet holder and the second portion of the lancet holder separate, thereby enlarging the first end of the central aperture without enlarging the second end of the central aperture.
