1. An implant for a femoral head, the implant comprising:

  • a shell, having, a first surface configured to replace a defective area of a bone defect of a portion of an articulation surface of the femoral head, the first surface being patient-specific to the portion of the articulation surface of the femoral head and configured to conform with the patient'"'"'s acetabulum for partial articulation thereon, wherein the patient-specific first surface is a three-dimensionally curved articulation surface that is configured to replace the defective area of the femoral head with a continuation of a healthy bone surface;

    a patient-specific periphery mateable with a periphery of the bone defect, such that the first surface is configured to be continuous at the periphery of the bone defect to a remaining healthy surface of the articulation surface of the femoral head and the implant is configured to replace and correct the bone defect to allow for full articulation with the patient'"'"'s acetabulum; and

    a second surface opposite the first surface and configured to engage bone underlying the bone defect.
