1. A method for detecting and processing a signal from an RFID tag in a patient, comprising:
- a) placing a remote activating device and a patient in proximity to each other,wherein said remote activating device comprises a pad, wherein said pad comprises an excitation coil that generates a magnetic field, andwherein said patient comprises an RFID tag at a location in, on, or proximal to a target tumor of said patient;
b) detecting a signal from said RFID tag in, on, or proximal to a target tumor of by generating a magnetic field with said remote activating device,c) processing, with a control unit, said signal from said RFID tag to generate distance-to-tag and orientation data for an electrocautery device,wherein said electrocautery device is configured to be turned on and off by a user,wherein said control unit is configured to;
i) prevent said remote activating device from generating said magnetic field when said electrocautery device is on, and ii) allow said remote activating device to generate said magnetic field when said electrocautery device is off,wherein said RFID tag is not attached to, or inside of, said electrocautery device,wherein said control unit comprises;
a processor and control software, andwherein said electrocautery device comprises an electrode tip,d) displaying, with a display component, the distance of said electrode tip to said RFID tag and the pitch and yaw of said electrocautery device, ande) turning said electrocautery device on, thereby causing said control unit to prevent said remote activating device from generating said magnetic field.

Abstract
Provided herein are systems, devices, assemblies, and methods for localization of a tag in a tissue of a patient. For example, provided herein are systems, devices, and methods employing a detection component that is attached to or integrated with a surgical device, where the detection component detects a signal from a tag in a patient, where the tag is activated by remote introduction of a magnetic field.
