1. A luminaire, comprising:
- a light source comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs);
a heat spreader;
a substantially ring-shaped trim plate;
the heat spreader being disposed between and in thermal communication with the light source and the trim plate such that the heat spreader facilitates transfer of heat from the LEDs to the trim plate;
the trim plate being structurally configured and disposed for dissipating heat generated by the light source; and
the trim plate having an outer dimension that is larger than;
an opening defined by a nominally sized can light fixture; and

Abstract
A luminaire includes a light source having a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs), a heat spreader, and a substantially ring-shaped trim plate. The heat spreader is disposed between and in thermal communication with the light source and the trim plate such that the heat spreader facilitates transfer of heat from the LEDs to the trim plate. The trim plate is structurally configured and disposed for dissipating heat generated by the light source. The trim plate has an outer dimension that is larger than: an opening defined by a nominally sized can light fixture; and, an opening defined by a nominally sized electrical junction box.

11. A luminaire, comprising:
-
a light source comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs); a single one-piece base comprising both a heat spreader and a substantially ring-shaped trim plate such that a heat flow path between the heat spreader and the trim plate is continuous and uninterrupted, the heat spreader being disposed between and in thermal communication with the light source and the trim plate such that the heat spreader facilitates transfer of heat from the LEDs to the trim plate, the trim plate being structurally configured and disposed for dissipating heat generated by the light source; a power conditioner structurally configured and disposed to receive AC voltage from an electrical supply and to provide DC voltage for the plurality of LEDs, the power conditioner being disposed, structurally configured and sized to fit at least partially within an interior space of;
a nominally sized can light fixture; and
, a nominally sized electrical junction box. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
