Abstract

An embodiment of the system for publishing events of a telephony application to a client includes a call router that generates events from the telephony application and an event router that manages the publication of events generated by the call router and that manages the subscription to events by clients. The system can be used with a telephony application that interfaces with a telephony device and an application server.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

a multi-tenant telephony system managing a plurality of applications provided by a plurality of application servers external to the telephony system;

a call router of the telephony system generating an event of a first application of the plurality of applications during the management of the first application by the telephony system;

the call router publishing the generated event to an event router of the telephony system;

the event router sending the published event from the event router to at least one subscriber to the published event,

wherein each application of the plurality of applications controls interaction between a telephony device and the call router.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the call router generates the event of the first application responsive to an instruction of the first application.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the call router receives the instruction of the first application from an external first application server.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the first application server is an application server of the first application.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the call router receives the instruction of the first application from the external first application server via an API.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the call router receives the instruction of the first application from the external first application server via an application layer protocol.

7. The method of claim 4, wherein the call router receives the instruction of the first application from the external first application server via one of an HTTP protocol and a HTTPS protocol.

8. The method of claim 4, wherein the event router sending the published event from the event router to at least one subscriber to the published event comprises:

the event router sending the published event to the first application server.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the event router sending the published event from the event router to at least one subscriber to the published event comprises:

the event router identifying the first application server as a subscriber to the published event.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the event router sends the published event to the first application server via an API of the first application server.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the event router sends the published event to the first application server via an HTTP connection.

12. The method of claim 9, wherein the instruction is an instruction to dial a phone number.

13. The method of claim 9, wherein the first application controls interaction between a telephony device and the call router.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the first application is a customer service application.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein the first application is conference call application.

16. The method of claim 1, wherein the call router generates the published event based on the call router dialing a number.

17. The method of claim 1, wherein the call router generates the published event based on the call router starting a Text-To-Speech conversation.

18. The method of claim 1, wherein the call router generates the published event based on the call router gathering telephony input.

19. The method of claim 1, wherein the call router generates the published event based on the call router playing an audio file.

20. The method of claim 2 wherein the instruction of the first application is a telephony instruction, wherein the published event is a telephony event the corresponds to the telephony instruction, wherein the first application is an application of a first account of a plurality of accounts of the telephony system, wherein the telephony instruction is an instruction of the first account, wherein the telephony event is an event of the first account, and wherein each application of the plurality of applications is associated with an account of the plurality of accounts of the telephony system.
