1. A method for remote monitoring of a patient'"'"'s analyte concentration state, the method comprising:

  • receiving from a user device, at a secure server system, a primary remote monitor device identifier and a secondary remote monitor device identifier, the primary remote monitor device identifier identifying a primary remote monitor device to receive a first data set from a continuous analyte sensor device, the secondary remote monitor device identifier identifying a secondary remote monitor device to receive a second data set from the continuous analyte sensor device, the first and second data sets including at least some analyte data generated by the continuous analyte sensor device, the user device being local to the continuous analyte sensor device;

    receiving, from the user device, at the secure server system, a first set of notification rules associated with the primary remote monitor device and a second set of notification rules associated with the secondary remote monitor device, the first set of notification rules indicating that the secure server system is to provide an alert to the primary remote monitor device when the at least some analyte data exceeds a first threshold, the second set of notification rules indicating that the secure server system is to provide the alert to the secondary remote monitor device if the primary remote monitor device does not respond within a predetermined period of time after previously providing the alert;

    storing, at the secure server system, the at least some analyte data associated with an analyte concentration state of the patient;

    authorizing, at the secure server system, the primary remote monitor device and the secondary remote monitor device, the primary monitor device being authorized to have access to the first data set to remotely monitor the analyte concentration state of the patient, the secondary remote monitor device being authorized to have access to the second data set to remotely monitor the analyte concentration state of the patient; and

    associating, at the secure server system, the first set of notification rules with the first remote monitor device based in part on the primary remote monitor device identifier received from the user device and associating the second set of notification rules with the second remote monitor device based in part on the secondary remote monitor device identifier received from the user device.
