- a first user device associated with a first user, the first user device configured to;
receive an electronic menu associated with a restaurant;
display the electronic menu to the first user;
receive a first takeout order from the first user; and
transmit the first takeout order to a takeout order platform;
a point-of-sale (POS) system of a restaurant; and
the takeout order platform configured to communicate with the first device of the first user, comprising;
at least one hardware processor;
at least one database; and
at least one executable software module that, when executed by the at least one hardware processor, is configured to;
provide the electronic menu associated with the restaurant to the first device of the first user;
receive a first takeout order electronically from the first device of the first user;
analyze order information related to the first takeout order including determining whether a dollar amount of the first takeout order exceeds a threshold;
determine, based at least in part on the analysis, a length of a first hold period, wherein the first hold period comprises an amount of time before the first takeout order is transmitted to the POS system of the restaurant, and wherein the first hold period comprises a first length if the dollar amount of the first takeout order exceeds the threshold and the first hold period comprises a second length if the dollar amount of the first takeout order does not exceed the threshold;
hold the first takeout order during the first hold period; and
transmit the first takeout order to the POS system of the restaurant after an expiration of the first hold period,wherein the takeout order platform is further configured to simultaneously communicate with POS systems of a plurality of restaurants and remotely cause each of the POS systems of the plurality of restaurants to process different orders placed by different users.
