1. A device management system, comprising:
- a receiver configured to acquire an indication of a wireless reader device joining a network, wherein the wireless reader device is configured to wirelessly communicate with a hardware tag, wherein the wireless reader device has an antenna, and wherein the wireless reader device is further configured to communicate with the hardware tag using the antenna when within a range of the wireless reader device;
an interface configured to interrogate the wireless reader device via the network to obtain current configuration information associated with the wireless reader device;
a server manager configured to create a device profile for the wireless reader device based on the obtained configuration information; and
memory configured to store the device profile for the wireless reader device,wherein the server manager is further configured to, if the receiver detects the wireless reader device returning to the network after being absent from the network, configure the wireless reader device via the interface according to the device profile.

Abstract
The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or method that creates, manages, or maintains multiple device versions in a network of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) devices. The system can include components that detect whether a device has joined the network and based at least in part on such indication creates a device profile the first time that the device is detected, establishes a version trail containing configuration settings specific to the detected device, and thereafter builds and maintains the version trail when the device joins and/or leaves the network.

11. A device management system, comprising:
-
a computer-readable storage device configured to store computer- executable instructions; and a processing device configured to execute the computer-executable instructions, which upon execution by the processing device, control the device management system to perform; acquiring an indication of a wireless reader device joining a network; if the indication is acquired, interrogating the wireless reader device via the network to obtain current configuration information associated with the wireless reader device, wherein the current configuration information is based on configuration data governing communications between the wireless reader device and a hardware tag via an antenna of the wireless reader device; creating a device profile for the wireless reader device based on the obtained configuration information; storing the device profile for the wireless reader device; and if the wireless reader device is detected returning to the network after being absent from the network, configuring the wireless reader device according to the stored device profile. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
