1. A calibration tool for use in obtaining a zero calibration value for a fiber optic needle oxygen sensor, consisting essentially of:

  • (a) an open top vial constructed from an oxygen impermeable material and defining a chamber,(b) a resealing, needle-penetrable, oxygen impermeable septa sealingly engaged over the open top of the vial, and(c) an oxygen permeable sachet containing a mass of particulate oxygen getter retained within the sealed chamber.
