1. A loosely coupled inductive power transfer apparatus, the apparatus comprising:

  • a first magnetic coupling structure arranged in a plane and a primary coil having at least one turn and arranged in a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the ferrite structure, the coil configured to generate a magnetic flux;

    a second magnetic coupling structure comprising a first coil arranged to be responsive to a component of the magnetic flux from the first magnetic coupling structure that is perpendicular to the plane of the primary coil and a second coil arranged to be responsive to a component of the magnetic flux from the first magnetic coupling structure that is parallel to the plane of the primary coil; and

    an electrical circuit configured to sum and regulate outputs from the first and second coils to provide a required power profile over a range of relative transverse movement between the first and second magnetic coupling structures.
