1. An apparatus for reliably regulating the liquid level in a quenching chamber which contains hot raw gas and liquid slag from a gasification gas-flow reactor and is cooled by injecting excess quenching water, wherein the excess quenching water forms a water bath (2) in the lower part of the quenching chamber, which can be regulated between a minimum height (Min) and a maximum height (Max), wherein a raw gas discharge (4) is located above the water level (5) of the water bath, wherein:

  • the differential pressure transmitter (6) has a first pressure detection position for applying a pressure in the gas chamber (1) of the quenching chamber and a second pressure detection position for applying a pressure on the bottom of the water bath (9),the differential pressure transmitter provides an information signal as the size of the measured height of the water bath,the method is characterized in that a line connecting the first pressure acquisition position with the gas chamber (1) is flushed by inert gas, the line connecting the first pressure acquisition position with the gas chamber (1) is connected with an inert gas flushing device (8) of the quenching spray gun, a sleeve (11) covering the quenching spray gun is arranged, and the inert gas flushing device penetrating through the sleeve is arranged; and

    the line connecting the second pressure collection location to the bottom of the water bath is flushed with fresh water (10).
