1. A solid electrolytic capacitor comprising a capacitor element, said capacitor element comprising:

  • a sintered porous anode body having a plurality of recesses and corresponding protrusions on one or more outer surfaces of the anode body, wherein each recess is defined by a first wall and an opposing second wall, wherein the first wall and the second wall each have a convex shape, wherein the first wall and the second wall each have an apex and a base, further wherein a first tangent to the first wall intersects a second tangent to the second wall at an angle ranging from 20 °

    to 40 °

    , wherein a tangent point of the first tangent falls on a midpoint between the apex and the base of the first wall, and a tangent point of the second tangent falls on a midpoint between the apex and the base of the second wall;

    wherein each recess has a depth of from 0.050 millimeters to 0.250 millimeters, further wherein the width of at least one projection is wider than the width of at least one recess;

    wherein the width of the at least one protrusion is 0.225 mm to 3.25 mm;

    a dielectric overlying the anode body;

    a solid electrolyte overlying the dielectric, wherein the solid electrolyte comprises a first conductive polymer layer; and

    an overcoat layer covering the solid electrolyte, comprising a carbon layer and a metal layer covering the carbon layer.
