1. A low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator comprising:
 a first summer operable to receive the feedback signal and the input signal;
a first integrator operable to receive an output from the first adder;
a second integrator operable to receive an output from the first integrator;
a third integrator operable to receive an output from the second integrator;
a second summer operable to receive a second integrated path from the second integrator, a first integration path from the first integrator, a first summing path from the input signal, a second summing path from the first integrator, and an output from the third integrator, wherein the second summing path is separate from the first integration path;
a last integrator operable to receive an output from the second adder; and
a quantizer operable to feed an output back to the first adder and also output from the low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator,wherein the first summing path, second summing path, first integrating path, and second integrated path each comprise amplification and/or delay, and a weighted sum of the second integrated path from the second integrator, the first integrating path from the first integrator, the first summing path from the input signal, the second summing path from the first integrator, and an output from the third integrator is less than a weighted sum of gains of orders provided by a transfer function of the low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator.

Abstract
A low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator includes a first adder operable to receive a feedback signal and an input signal. The modulator also includes a first integrator operable to receive an output from the first adder, and a second integrator operable to receive an output from the first integrator. The modulator further includes a second summer operable to receive the second integrated path from the second integrator, the first integrated path from the first integrator, and the first summing path from the input signal. The modulator also has a last integrator operable to receive the output from the second adder.

1. A low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator comprising:

a first summer operable to receive the feedback signal and the input signal; a first integrator operable to receive an output from the first adder; a second integrator operable to receive an output from the first integrator; a third integrator operable to receive an output from the second integrator; a second summer operable to receive a second integrated path from the second integrator, a first integration path from the first integrator, a first summing path from the input signal, a second summing path from the first integrator, and an output from the third integrator, wherein the second summing path is separate from the first integration path; a last integrator operable to receive an output from the second adder; and a quantizer operable to feed an output back to the first adder and also output from the low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator, wherein the first summing path, second summing path, first integrating path, and second integrated path each comprise amplification and/or delay, and a weighted sum of the second integrated path from the second integrator, the first integrating path from the first integrator, the first summing path from the input signal, the second summing path from the first integrator, and an output from the third integrator is less than a weighted sum of gains of orders provided by a transfer function of the low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator.


2. A delta sigma modulator according to claim 1 further comprising a digital to analog converter operable to receive said output from said quantizer.

3. The deltasigma modulator of claim 1 integrated into a mobile phone, a set top box, a music player, a video player, a navigation device, a handheld Personal Communication Systems (PCS) unit, a portable data unit, and/or a fixed location data unit.

4. A delta sigma modulator according to claim 1 wherein said delta sigma modulator is integrated into an entertainment unit.

5. A delta sigma modulator according to claim 1 wherein said delta sigma modulator is integrated into a computer.

6. A method for processing a signal in a low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator, the method comprising:

receiving a feedback signal and an input signal at a first summer; receiving an output from the first adder at a first integrator; receiving an output from the first integrator at a second integrator; receiving an output from the second integrator at a third integrator; receiving, at a second adder, a second integrated path from the second integrator, a first integration path from the first integrator, a first summing path from the input signal, a second summing path from the first integrator, and an output from the third integrator, wherein the second summing path is separate from the first integration path; receiving an output from the second adder at a last integrator; and feeding back an output to the first adder via a quantizer and outputting from the low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator, wherein the first summing path, second summing path, first integrating path, and second integrated path each comprise amplification and/or delay, and a weighted sum of the second integrated path from the second integrator, the first integrating path from the first integrator, the first summing path from the input signal, the second summing path from the first integrator, and an output from the third integrator is less than a weighted sum of gains of orders provided by a transfer function of the low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator.


7. The method of claim 6, further comprising receiving an output of the quantizer at a digitaltoanalog converter.

8. The method of claim 6, further comprising integrating the delta sigma modulator into a mobile phone, a set top box, a music player, a video player, a navigation device, a handheld Personal Communication Systems (PCS) unit, a portable data unit, and/or a fixed location data unit.

9. The method of claim 6, further comprising integrating the deltasigma modulator into an entertainment unit.

10. The method of claim 6, further comprising integrating the deltasigma modulator into a computer.

11. A low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator comprising:

first adding means for adding the feedback signal and the input signal; first integrating means for integrating the output from the first adding means; second integrating means for integrating the output from the first integrating means; third integrating means for integrating an output from the second integrating means; second summing means for summing a second integrated path from the second integrating means, a first integrating path from the first integrating means, a first summing path from the input signal, a second summing path from the first integrating means, and an output from the third integrating means, wherein the second summing path is separate from the first integrating path; last integrating means for integrating the output from said second adding means; and means for feeding back an output to the first adding means and for outputting from the low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator, wherein the first summing path, second summing path, first integrating path, and second integrated path each comprise amplification and/or delay, and a weighted sum of the second integrated path from the second integrating means, the first integrating path from the first integrating means, the first summing path from the input signal, the second summing path from the first integrating means, and an output from the third integrating means is less than a weighted sum of gains of orders provided by a transfer function of the low distortion feed forward delta sigma modulator.


12. The deltasigma modulator of claim 11, further comprising means for digitaltoanalog converting an output from said means for feeding back.

13. The deltasigma modulator of claim 11 integrated into a mobile phone, a set top box, a music player, a video player, a navigation device, a handheld Personal Communication Systems (PCS) unit, a portable data unit, and/or a fixed location data unit.

14. A delta sigma modulator according to claim 11 wherein said delta sigma modulator is integrated into an entertainment unit.

15. A delta sigma modulator according to claim 11 wherein said delta sigma modulator is integrated into a computer.
