1. A method for measurement control in a wireless communication network, comprising the following steps performed by a coverage enhancement mode, MTC, user equipment in the wireless communication network:

  • calculating a relative value of a received signal level for cell selection and a relative value of a received signal quality for cell selection;

    receiving a first threshold, a second threshold, a third threshold and a fourth threshold from a base station, wherein the first threshold represents a threshold of a relative value of a received signal level for cell selection, which is measured by the MTC user equipment in the coverage enhancement mode in the same-frequency neighbor cell;

    the second threshold represents a threshold of a relative value of the received signal quality for cell selection for the same-frequency neighbor cell measurement performed by the coverage enhancement mode MTC user equipment;

    the third threshold represents a threshold of a relative value of the received signal level for cell selection for the inter-frequency measurement or inter-system measurement performed by the coverage enhancement mode MTC user equipment;

    the fourth threshold represents a threshold of a relative value of the received signal quality for cell selection for the inter-frequency measurement or the inter-system measurement performed by the coverage enhancement mode MTC user equipment; and

    determining a measurement period according to the first threshold, the second threshold, the third threshold, and the fourth threshold from the base station, and the relative value of the received signal level for cell selection and the relative value of the received signal quality for cell selection;

    extending a first measurement period and performing the same-frequency neighbor cell measurement when the relative value of the received signal level for cell selection is greater than the first threshold and the relative value of the received signal quality for cell selection is greater than the second threshold;

    extending a second measurement period and performing the inter-frequency measurement or the inter-system measurement of the same or lower priority when the relative value of the received signal level for cell selection is greater than the third threshold and the relative value of the received signal quality for cell selection is greater than the fourth threshold.
