1. A force control system for a landing gear of an aircraft, the aircraft having a longitudinal axis and a plurality of landing gears, each landing gear having a plurality of braking and/or driving wheels, wherein the force control system operates at a landing gear level and comprises an error-based force control module comprising a plurality of landing gear force controllers, each landing gear force controller being configured to control, in use, a landing gear force at a respective one of the plurality of landing gears, wherein each landing gear force controller is configured to, in use:

  • receiving an input signal indicative of a longitudinal force demand to be achieved by the force control system for a respective landing gear;

    receiving an input signal representing an actual measurement of all longitudinal forces acting on the respective landing gear;

    calculating any error between the force demand signal and the actual force signal; and

    outputting landing gear longitudinal force commands to be effected by a plurality of brake wheels and/or drive wheels of the respective landing gear so as to minimise any error between the demanded force and the actual force,wherein the force control system further comprises a configuration manager for providing configuration data to the force control module.
