1. A method for image capture, comprising:

  • determining, by a computing device, an indication of a distance to an object in a scene, wherein the computing device comprises three or more image capture devices providing two or more baselines for stereoscopic imaging, wherein at least two pairs of the three or more image capture devices are operable for stereoscopic imaging, wherein each pair of image capture devices provides one of the baselines, and wherein a first one of the baselines is not parallel to a second one of the baselines, wherein determining the indication of the distance to the object comprises determining at least one focus setting that causes the object to be in focus;

    selecting, by the computing device, a first pair of image capture devices from the at least two pairs of image capture devices, wherein the first pair is selected based on the indication of distance and the baseline provided by the first pair,wherein selecting the first pair of image capture devices comprises;

    determining a desired baseline corresponding to the determined focus setting using a database of focus settings to baselines, and determining that a first pair in the image capture device corresponds to the desired baseline; and

    a first pair of the image capture devices is operated to capture stereo image data.
