A wind turbine blade (10) having a longitudinal direction between a root end and a tip end,-wherein the wind turbine blade (10) comprises at least a wind turbine blade component being a spar cap integrated into a shell of the wind turbine blade, the wind turbine blade component being made of a fibre composite material and comprising a first type of reinforcing fibres having a first modulus of elasticity and a second type of reinforcing fibres having a second modulus of elasticity,-wherein the wind turbine blade component comprises a thickness between a first surface (172) and a second surface (182),-wherein the ratio between the first type of reinforcing fibers and the second type of reinforcing fibers is gradually varying in a first direction of the wind turbine blade such that the modulus of elasticity is gradually varying in the first direction,-wherein the gradual change in the first direction is provided by:

  • -a first thickness portion where the first type of reinforcement fibers along a first common boundary (175) between the first type of reinforcement fibers and the second type of reinforcement fibers taper in the first direction towards a first surface (172) of the wind turbine blade component, the second type of reinforcement fibers taper in a direction opposite to the first direction towards a second surface (182) of the wind turbine blade component; and

    -a second thickness portion where first type reinforcement fibres along a second common boundary (185) between the first type reinforcement fibres and the second type reinforcement fibres taper in a first direction towards the second surface (182) of the wind turbine blade component, the second type reinforcement fibres taper in a direction opposite to the first direction towards the first surface (172) of the wind turbine blade component, and-wherein the first type of reinforcing fibers and the second type of reinforcing fibers are embedded in a common polymer matrix.
