1. A method for producing an oxide catalyst containing Mo, V, Sb and Nb, which is used for a gas-phase catalytic oxidation reaction or a gas-phase catalytic ammoxidation reaction of propane or isobutane, comprising the steps of:

  • a preparation step of preparing a first aqueous mixed solution containing Mo, V and Sb;

    a mixing step of mixing the first aqueous mixed solution with a carrier raw material containing a silica sol and an Nb raw material to obtain a second aqueous mixed solution;

    a drying step of drying the second aqueous mixed solution to obtain a dried powder; and

    a calcination step of calcining the dried powder to obtain the oxide catalyst,the carrier raw material contains SiO in the total amount of the carrier raw material2The silica sol has an average primary particle diameter of 3.0nm or more and less than 11nm, and contains 55% or more of a silica sol having a primary particle diameter of less than 11nm, the silica sol being converted to 40% by mass or more and 70% by mass or lessThe size of the glue particles is such that,the oxide catalyst has a composition represented by the following formula (1),MoVaSbbNbcZdOn(1)in formula (1), Z represents at least 1 element selected from the group consisting of W, La, Ce, Yb and Y;

    a. b, c and d respectively represent values in the ranges of 0.01. ltoreq. a.ltoreq.0.35, 0.01. ltoreq. b.ltoreq.0.35, 0.01. ltoreq. c.ltoreq.0.20, 0.00. ltoreq. d.ltoreq.0.10;

    n represents a value satisfying a valence balance,in the formula (1), (a/b) is 0.50 or more and 0.98 or less.
