1. An electronic device, comprising:

  • a housing;

    a microphone mounted on a printed circuit board within the housing;

    a water-resistant membrane sealing the microphone from outside the case; and

    the printed circuit board including an acoustically resistive air permeable vent structure formed in a body of the printed circuit board, wherein the acoustically resistive air permeable vent structure is etched into a surface of the printed circuit board, the acoustically resistive air permeable vent structure providing a viscous damping effect that beneficially affects an acoustic response of the microphone.
