FullView, Inc. has filed suit against Polycom (3:18-cv-00510), accusing certain products that “provide panoramic 360⁰ video for videoconferencing applications” of infringing two patents generally related to “omni-directional camera viewing systems”. According to the complaint, an earlier Polycom product (CX5000, allegedly manufactured and marketed as Roundtable by Microsoft) was covered by an April 2011 license from FullView, but after the parties could not agree on licensing terms for “successor products”, Polycom triggered an inter partes reexamination of one of the patents, all claims of which were affirmed as originally issued by the Patent Trial and Appeal Board roughly one year ago. Requests for rehearing of that decision—as well as this new suit—have followed.
