A snowplow and mount assembly comprising: amount frame adapted to be secured to a vehicle having a longitudinal axis; a snowplow frame; one of said mount frame and said snowplow frame having first and second arms and the other of said mount frame and said snowplow frame having first and second receivers, said first and second receivers receiving said first and second arms, respectively upon relative movement therebetween in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle; first and second latch pins movable to and between latched and unlatched positions, respective ones of which removably secure said first and second arms in said first and second receivers, said first and second latch pins normally biased toward said latched position; and a latch lever operably associated with said first and second latch pins for simultaneously freeing said latch pins to move to said latched position and moving said latch pins to said unlatched position. view more

The assembly of claim 28 wherein said first and second arms are part of said mount frame and said first and second receivers are part of said snowplow frame.

The assembly of claim 28 wherein said snowplow frame comprises a lift frame and an A-frame pivotally connected to said lift frame on a rearward end of said A-frame.

The assembly of claim 30 further comprising a plow blade mounted on a forward end of said A-frame.

The assembly of claim 28 wherein said first and second latch pins are spring biased toward said latch position.

The assembly of claim 28 or 1 wherein said latch lever is designed to have a mechanical advantage insufficient for an operator to move said latch pins to said unlatched position unless the force due to the weight of said snowplow transferred by said latch pins to said mount frame is removed by the operator. view more

A snowplow and mount assembly comprising: a mount frame adapted to be secured to a vehicle having a longitudinal axis; a snowplow frame including a lift frame and an A-frame pivotally connected to said lift frame on a rearward end of said lift frame; one of said mount frame and said lift frame having first and second arms and the other of said mount frame and said lift frame having first and second receivers, said first and second receivers receiving said first and second arms, respectively upon relative movement therebetween in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle; first and second latch pins movable to and between latched and unlatched positions, respective ones of which removably secure said first and second arms in said first and second receivers, said first and second latch pins normally biased toward said latched position; and a latch lever operably associated with said first and second latch pins for simultaneously freeing said latch pins to move to said latched position and moving said latch pins to said unlatched position. view more

The assembly of claim 53 further comprising: a spring biasing each said latch pin into said latched position; and a pin extractor associated with each said latch pin and actuatable by said latch lever to extract said latch pin from said aim and against the bias of said spring. view more

A snowplow and mount assembly comprising: a mount frame adapted to be secured to a vehicle having a longitudinal axis; a snowplow frame; one of said mount frame and said snowplow frame having first and second arms and the other of said mount frame and said snowplow frame having first and second receivers, said first and second receivers receiving said first and second arms, respectively upon relative movement therebetween in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle; first and second latch pins, respective ones of which removably secure said first and second arms in said first and second receivers; and a latch lever operably associated with said first and second latch pins for simultaneously actuating said latch pins to latched and unlatched positions; further comprising: a spring biasing each said latch pin into said latched position; and a pin extractor associated with each said latch pin and actuatable by said latch lever to extract said latch pin from said arm and against the bias of said spring. view more

A method of attaching a snowplow frame to a mount frame comprising: providing a mount frame secured to a vehicle having a longitudinal axis and a snowplow frame; one of the mount frame and the snowplow frame having first and second arms and the other of the mount frame and the snowplow frame having first and second receivers, the first and second receivers receiving the first and second arms, respectively upon relative movement therebetween in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle; one of the mount frame and the snowplow frame having first and second latch pins movable to and between latched and unlatched positions, respective ones of which removably secure the first and second arms in the first and second receivers, the first and second latch pins normally biased toward the latched position and a lever operably associated with the first and second latch pins to simultaneously free the latch pins to move to the latched position; effecting relative movement between the mount frame and the snowplow frame so that the receivers receive the arms therein; and actuating the lever to simultaneously free the latch pins to move to the latched position. view more

A method of detaching a snowplow frame from a mount frame comprising: providing a mount frame secured to a vehicle having a longitudinal axis and a snowplow frame removably attached to the mount frame; one of the mount frame and the snowplow frame having first and second arms and the other of the mount frame and the snowplow frame having first and second receivers, the first and second receivers receiving the first and second arms, respectively upon relative movement therebetween in a direction generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle; one of the mount frame and the snowplow frame having first and second latch pins movable to and between latched and unlatched positions, respective ones of which removably secure the first and second arms in the first and second receivers, the first and second latch pins normally biased toward the latched position and a lever operably associated with the first and second latch pins to simultaneously free the latch pins to move to the latched position; actuating the lever to simultaneously move the latch pins to the unlatched position; and effecting relative movement between the mount frame and the snowplow frame so that the arms move out of the receivers. view more

For use with a vehicle having a frame and a front bumper, a snow plow assembly, comprising: a mount frame for connection to the vehicle frame behind the bumper, a mount frame for connection to the vehicle frame behind the bumper, a lift assembly including an A-frame, a lift frame and a snow blade, the snow blade mounted on the forward end of the A-frame, the lift frame including means for pivotally connecting the rear end of the A-frame to the lift frame whereby the A-frame is free to rotate relative to the lift frame and means for releasably connecting the lift frame to the mount frame affording removal of the lift assembly from the mount frame as a single unit so as to leave the mount frame on the vehicle, and the releasably connecting means including a U-shaped channel located at a position behind the vehicle bumper when the lift frame is connected to the mount frame, the channel defined by a pair of upstanding legs connected by a lower bight portion with the legs extending in the direction of travel of the vehicle. view more

The snow plow assembly of claim 1 wherein the releasably connecting means includes a retractable pin.

The snow plow assembly of claim 1 including an actuator for raising and lowering the A-frame.

The snow plow assembly of claim 4 wherein the lift frame includes a lift arm and an intermediate support, one end of the lift arm pivotally connected to the upper end of the intermediate support, the other end of the lift arm pivotally connected to one end of the actuator, the other end of the actuator connected to the lower end of the intermediate support. view more
