Failed Internet Security Company Now Suing Banks over Secured Transactions

Bank of America is the second target of Verify Smart Corp., a former operating company that filed its first suit, against HSBC, in May of this year. That suit was voluntarily dismissed, without prejudice, on the same day that Verify filed the current case (2:14-cv-05117) against Bank of America. Both suits assert a patent related to verifying a user’s identity during an electronic transaction (8,285,648). Bank of America’s fraud protection system that enables secure banking transactions from a mobile device is accused of infringing the patent-in-suit.
