Wirelessly Controlled Security Systems Targeted in New Campaign
- December 4, 2014
Car manufacturers BMW and Mercedes, along with home security company Vivint, are the first litigation targets for Entry Systems, LLC. The entity is asserting a single patent, 6,161,005, relating to an electronic door locking/unlocking system that can be controlled wirelessly by a networked device. It acquired the patent sometime in 2014, although the assignment is not recorded. The patent-in-suit originated with Pindome, Inc. and was assigned to MFS IP in July of this year. Defendants’ home and car security systems that can be controlled remotely are accused of infringement.
