After quickly ending cases against Apple, HSBC, and Microsoft, Verify Smart Corp. is now turning its attention to Facebook (1:15-cv-08673). Since initiating its sole litigation campaign in May 2014, Verify Smart has filed six cases against five companies, asserting a single patent generally related to verification of user identity during an electronic transaction (8,285,648). In this week’s filing, as in each of its previous suits, Verify Smart alleges that Facebook infringes the ‘648 patent through the use of a multi-factor system for authenticating user identity.
