Campaign Targeting Mobile Device Display Backlights Expands in West Texas
Kamino LLC, an NPE associated with monetization firm IPValuation Partners, LLC (d/b/a IPVal), has added Amazon (6:20-cv-00052), AOC (6:20-cv-00053), Best Buy (6:20-cv-00054), and HP (6:20-cv-00055) as defendants in its sole litigation campaign, over a single patent generally related to a light-conducting plate for an LCD backlight. The new suits join active cases against Anker and Honeywell, sued in December 2019, and Fujifilm, sued earlier this month, in the Western District of Texas. Accused throughout the campaign have been mobile devices with certain backlight features, with Kamino calling out Amazon’s Echo Show and Kindle Fire, AOC’s 22” monitors, Best Buy’s Insignia Dual Camera Dash Cam, and HP’s 22er monitors.
