Over 50 Defendants Sued in Equitable IP’s E-Commerce Websites Campaign

Consolidated Transaction Processing LLC (CTP), an Equitable IP Corporation plaintiff, has filed another round of complaints in the file-and-dismiss campaign that it launched in July 2016, suing retailers ARO Liquidation (f/k/a Aeropostale), Hudson’s Bay (Saks Fifth Avenue), Lost Arrow (Patagonia), LVMH (Sephora), Shoe Carnival, Tapestry, Target, The Container Store, Urban Outfitters, VF (Vans), and West Marine, each in the Northern District of Illinois. The two asserted patents generally relate to using personal information to generate targeted advertisements, with the defendants accused of infringement through their respective e-commerce websites’ support for certain location-based advertisement tools.
