Magistrate Judge Sherry Fallon has recommended that the District of Delaware confirm an arbitration panel’s $1.8M award to litigation funder Woodsford Group Ltd. in its dispute with law firm Hosie Rice LLP. The funding dispute, which sprung from a lawsuit filed by Space Data against Alphabet (Google) in 2016, provides a rare glimpse into the usually opaque business of third-party litigation funding for law firms.
