Janus Semiconductor Research, LLC has added two more cases to the campaign that it launched this past December. The NPE has asserted the same patent (5,987,620) against Intel (Altera) (2:17-cv-00109) and Kingston Technology (2:17-cv-00110) that it previously asserted in separate suits against Micron Technology, Samsung, and SK Hynix. The ‘620 patent generally relates to the distribution of varying clock signals to separate functional blocks on a chip. Janus accuses Intel alone of infringement through the manufacture and sale of its Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 series of processors and Intel and its subsidiary Altera together of infringement through the manufacture and sale of Cyclone V, Stratix IV/V/10, and Arria V/10 FPGAs (field programmable gate arrays) and SoCs (systems-on-chip).
