Power2B Files Second Complaint Against Samsung

The litigation filed by Power2B, Inc. against Samsung at the end of last year has ratcheted up since, with Samsung having filed an amended answer that alleges inequitable conduct in the prosecution of Power2B’s five asserted patents, a motion to disqualify Power2B’s counsel, and five petitions for inter partes review (IPR). As that case enters claim construction before Western District of Texas Judge Alan D. Albright, Power2B has accused Samsung (2:21-cv-00348) of infringing five additional patents, this time in an Eastern District of Texas complaint.

Mobile Device Gesture Controls Targeted in New West Texas Case

Power2B, Inc. has filed suit against Samsung (6:20-cv-01183), accusing the tech giant of infringing five patents broadly directed to a device with sensors for detecting the position of objects. The plaintiff targets “object-sensing”/“gesture-sensing” features—such as “gesture controls, gesture wake up, easy mute, and easy screen turn on, and/or ‘Air gestures’ based on the position of” a detected object—within a variety of mobile devices, including the “Galaxy S4-S10 and S20 devices and associated product lines, and Samsung’s Note 3-10 and Note 20 devices and associated product lines”. The case has been initially assigned to Judge Alan D. Albright in the Western District of Texas.
