IP Edge Doubles Number of Defendants in Noblewood Campaign

Noblewood IP LLC, an apparent IP Edge LLC plaintiff, has expanded at the end of February the litigation campaign that it launched at the end of January, suing IAC (Dotdash Meredith) (1:22-cv-00267), J2 Global (Everyday Health) (1:22-cv-00269), Strengthen Lengthen Tone (1:22-cv-01683), Wolters Kluwer (4:22-cv-00136), and Xponential Fitness (Pure Barre) (4:22-cv-00135), over features on their respective websites for “intercepting a download request” for a media file and “reinterpreting that request into a request for receiving a corresponding metafile”. A single former IBM patent, acquired from another NPE, is at issue throughout the campaign, which hit Comcast (NBCUniversal Media), Fox (Fox News Network), New York Times, ViacomCBS, and Virtucom earlier this year.

IP Edge Acquires More Former Operating Company Patents

Earlier this month, RPX reported the launch of new campaigns by apparent IP Edge LLC plaintiffs Noblewood IP LLC, Pixeltide Pathway LLC, and Wikeshire IP LLC—each asserting a former IBM patent. Assignment records made public this week suggest that more such litigation could be coming.

IP Edge Asserts Former IBM Patents in a Trio of New Campaigns

Apparent IP Edge LLC plaintiffs Noblewood IP LLC, Pixeltide Pathway LLC, and Wikeshire IP LLC have each launched an inaugural litigation campaign, Noblewood suing Comcast (NBCUniversal Media), Fox (Fox News Network), New York Times, ViacomCBS, and Virtucom over media streaming tools and services; Pixeltide Pathway suing A.T. Cross, CalAmp (LoJack), Tile, and TrackR over tracking devices and solutions; and Wikeshire IP suing DATAX (Kapsch TrafficCom), Econolite Systems, Iteris, and Teledyne FLIR over transportation analytics tools. Noblewood (one such patent), Pixeltide Pathway (two), and Wikeshire (one) assert former IBM patents that were acquired by Daedalus Group LLC in 2019.
