Significant Uptick in Litigation from Inventor Luciano Paone
Inventor Luciano F. Paone significantly expanded his campaign with suits against Broadcom, Digi, Laird, Marvell, Mediatek, Microchip Technology, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, and Quantenna. Paone’s litigation asserts a single patent, of which he is the sole inventor (6,259,789). The patent-in-suit relates to a cryptographic algorithm using product ciphers. At issue in the suits is Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) technology incorporated into defendants’ products. According to the complaints, Paone also sent assertion letters to the defendants in December 2013.

Inventor Campaign Revived with Suit Against Intel
Inventor Luciano F. Paone sued Intel in the second suit of a campaign begun in 2007. The complaint asserts a patent related to a cryptographic algorithm using product ciphers, and Paone is the sole inventor on the patent-in-suit (6,259,789). Intel’s products that use Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) encryption are accused of infringement.
