Acacia’s Unified Messaging Sues EverBank
Unified Messaging Solutions (UMS), a subsidiary of Acacia Research, filed suit against EverBank Financial alleging that the defendant’s webmail systems services infringe five patents related to web-based messaging. UMS filed more than 100 prior suits since March 2011 against a spectrum of e-commerce, content site, and financial services targets. UMS is the exclusive licensee of the patents-in-suit, which originated with J2 Global Communications/NetOffice Solutions and were assigned to Advanced Messaging Technologies in May 2010. Acacia’s Unified Messaging Settles with Commerce Bancshares
August 13, 2012 – Acacia Research announced that its subsidiary, Unified Messaging Solutions, entered into a settlement agreement with Commerce Bancshares. In March 2012, Unified Messaging Solutions filed suit against Commerce Bancshares, alleging that Commerce Bancshares’ webmail services infringe five patents related to web-based messaging systems.

Acacia’s Unified Messaging Solutions Enters into License and Settlement Agreement with Dell
August 1, 2012 – Acacia Research announced that its subsidiary, Unified Messaging Solutions (UMS), entered into a patent license and settlement agreement with Dell. In September 2011, UMS filed suit against AOL, AT&T, American Airlines, Citibank, Conn’s, Dell, eBay, Google, Sabre Holdings, Time Warner, Travelocity, Twitter, and Yahoo over five patents related to web-based messaging systems.
