An Alleged Break in the Chain of Title Upends MediaPOINTE Litigation
New Patent Litigation
In separate complaints, Akamai Technologies (2:22-cv-00982) and Microsoft (2:22-cv-01009) have asked the Central District of California for declaratory judgments concerning two patents affirmatively asserted against them by MediaPOINTE, Inc. last August. MediaPOINTE dismissed those actions from the Western District of Texas voluntarily and without prejudice after, per the new California complaints, that plaintiff took action to “confirm” title in the asserted patents, which generally relate to delivering an optimized and “continuous stream of data” through a “management center”. Both Akamai and Microsoft also name AMHC Incorporated as a defendant in their new actions, with Microsoft adding Steven E. Villoria as a defendant as well.

Akamai and Microsoft CDNs Targeted in Recent Campaign
New Patent Litigation
MediaPOINTE, Inc., a company offering “a unique line of state-of-the-art streaming media products”, has sued Akamai Technologies (6:21-cv-00852) and Microsoft (6:21-cv-00855) in the Western District of Texas over two patents broadly directed to delivering an optimized and “continuous stream of data” through a “management center”. The plaintiff’s infringement allegations target the provision of the defendants’ respective content delivery networks (CDNs) and related products and services, with features for “provid[ing] load balancing, routing, caching, and other services to customers via servers” at issue.
