Nexus Display Technologies’s Data Streaming Campaign Grows
New Patent Litigation, NPE
Acacia Research’s Nexus Display Technologies LLC filed its second round of litigation, this time suing Acer, ASUS, and HP and asserting four patents (5,835,498, 7,143,328, 7,295,578, 7,599,439). The entity filed its first round of litigation in July 2014, asserting the same group of patents. A range of defendants’ devices, including desktops, laptops, mobile phones, monitors, and projectors are accused of infringing the patents-in-suit. Those patents relate to transmitting video to a receiver device.

New Acacia Subsidiary Targeting Consumer Electronics Market with Data Streaming Patents
Nexus Display Technologies (NDT) launched its initial litigation filing five suits and then an additional four cases a week later, targeting BenQ, Dell, Eizo, Lenovo, LG, NEC, Panasonic, Sony, and Viewsonic. Court filings reveal that the entity is a subsidiary of Acacia Research. A total of four patents are asserted in the cases although only three of the cases include all four patents (5,835,498, 7,143,328, 7,295,578, 7,599,439). NDT is the current owner of the asserted patents and is accusing defendants’ desktop computers, tablets, laptops, monitors, and projectors of infringement. The patents-in-suit relate to transmitting data streams, particularly video, to a receiver device and all four patents originated with Silicon Image, Inc. 7/11, Eastern District of Texas, 2:14cv00762, 2:14cv00763, 2:14cv00764, 2:14cv00765, 2:14cv00766, 7/17, Central District of California, 8:14cv01118, 8:14cv01119, 8:14cv01121, 8:14cv01122
