Abstract

Method for controlling flow of gas into an airbag includes generating gas, directing the gas into the airbag, and controlling the flow of gas into the airbag based on conditions at the time of deployment such that the airbag is variably deployed dependent on ambient conditions. A related arrangement for controlling flow of gas into an airbag includes a system for generating gas, a system for directing the gas into the airbag and a system for controlling the flow of gas into the airbag based on conditions at the time of deployment such that the airbag is variably deployed dependent on ambient conditions.

Claims

1. A method for controlling flow of gas into an airbag, comprising:

generating gas;

directing the gas into the airbag; and

controlling the flow of gas into the airbag based on conditions at the time of deployment such that the airbag is variably deployed dependent on ambient conditions.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the control of the flow of gas comprises controlling the amount of gas being generated.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the control of the flow of gas comprises controlling the amount of gas being directed into the airbag.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the control of the flow of gas comprises controlling the amount of air being mixed with the gas being generated.

5. An arrangement for controlling flow of gas into an airbag, comprising:

means for generating gas;

means for directing the gas into the airbag; and

means for controlling the flow of gas into the airbag based on conditions at the time of deployment such that the airbag is variably deployed dependent on ambient conditions.
