Abstract

A method for transmitting advertisements includes receiving information regarding location of a user, and user profile or user demographic information; and transmitting a targeted advertisement to the user, the targeted advertisement is selected from a set of advertisements as a function of the location of the user, and the user profile or user demographic information.

Claims

1. A method for use in connection with a wireless telephone, comprising:

transmitting information regarding location of the wireless telephone;

transmitting demographic information relating to a user of the wireless telephone;

receiving an advertisement that is a function of the wireless telephone location information and the user demographic information.

2. The method of claim 1, comprising generating and transmitting a search query that is a function of the wireless telephone location information, or the user demographic information.

3. The method of claim 1, comprising receiving a menu from a restaurant as a function of the wireless telephone location information, or the user demographic information.

4. The method of claim 1, comprising filtering received data as a function of the wireless telephone location information, or the user demographic information.

5. The method of claim 2, comprising generating and transmitting a new search query as a function of change in the wireless telephone location information.

6. The method of claim 1, the wireless telephone employs a cellular network.

7. The method of claim 1, comprising receiving user input regarding geographic boundaries for receiving location-based information.

8. The method of claim 1, comprising conveying the advertisement to the user via audio.

9. The method of claim 1, comprising conveying direction of movement information, and receiving information relating to commercial establishments the wireless telephone is moving towards.

10. The method of claim 1, comprising updating video or audio information presented to the user as a function of change in direction of movement.

11. The method of claim 1, comprising presenting sales related information as a function of user historical purchasing preferences.

12. The method of claim 1 comprising receiving a user query that includes geographic limits for executing a search.

13. The method of claim 1 comprising transmitting a search query that includes geographic constraints for executing the search.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the search query includes a request for restaurants with N number of blocks from current location of the wireless telephone, N is an integer.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the search query includes a request for restaurants within a particular city.

16. The method of claim 1, comprising receiving website information as a function of the location of the wireless telephone, wherein the website information corresponds to an establishment that is within a predetermined location from the current location of the wireless telephone.

17. The method of claim 1, comprising receiving website information as a function of expected future location of the wireless telephone, wherein the website information corresponds to an establishment that is within a predetermined location from the expected future location of the wireless telephone.

18. The method of claim 1, comprising receiving an advertisement from a store as a function of current location of the wireless telephone and past purchasing history of the user at the store.

19. The method of claim 1, comprising receiving user input regarding shape of geographic boundary for executing the search.

20. The method of claim 1, comprising receiving user input regarding direction of area for executing a search.

21. A cellular telephone, comprising:

a memory for storing data; and

a processor that executes computer executable instructions, stored on the memory, for performing the following acts;

receiving a user input search query;

transmitting the search query and information regarding current location of the cellular telephone; and

receiving search results that are a function of the query and current location of the cellular telephone.
