Abstract

Disclosed herein is a navigation apparatus for displaying maps on a display section based on map data held in a recording section, the navigation apparatus including: a current position detection section configured to detect the current position of the navigation apparatus; a touch-sensitive panel configured to be installed on a display screen of the display section; and a control section configured to control changes in what is displayed on the display section in response to operations performed by a user on the touch-sensitive panel.

Claims

1. A navigation apparatus for displaying maps on a display section based on map data held in a recording section, said navigation apparatus comprising:

a current position detection section configured to detect the current position of said navigation apparatus;

a touch-sensitive panel configured to be installed on a display screen of said display section; and

a control section configured to control changes in what is displayed on said display section in response to operations performed by a user on said touch-sensitive panel, wherein

said control section causes said display section to display a main menu on which to designate the display of a map and a plurality of menus,

if said main menu is selected through said touch-sensitive panel, then said control section causes said display section to display either said plurality of menus and a first menu display changing menu;

or the menus of high importance from said plurality of menus, a second menu display changing menu and said map,

if said first menu display changing menu is selected through said touch-sensitive panel, then said control section causes said display section to replace the display of said plurality of menus and said first menu display changing menu with the display of the menus of high importance, said second menu display changing menu and said map, and

if said second menu display changing menu is selected through said touch-sensitive panel, then said control section causes said display section to replace the display of said menus of high importance, said second menu display changing menu and said map with the display of said plurality of menus and said first menu display changing menu.

2. The navigation apparatus according to claim 1, wherein

when displaying said menus of high importance, said second menu display changing menu and said map, said control section causes said display section to display said menus of high importance on one side of the center of said display screen and said map on the other side of said display screen;

and

said control section causes said map to be displayed in such a manner that the center of said map is aligned with the center of said other side of said display screen.

3. The navigation apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said menus of high importance are the menus to be verified on the display of said map.

4. The navigation apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said menus of high importance are the menus through which to accept the input of a destination from said map.

5. A navigation apparatus display method for use with a navigation apparatus for displaying maps on a display section based on map data held in a recording section, said navigation apparatus including

a current position detection section configured to detect the current position of said navigation apparatus, and

a touch-sensitive panel configured to be installed on a display screen of said display section,

said navigation apparatus display method comprising the steps of:

causing said display section to display a main menu on which to designate the display of a map and a plurality of menus;

if said main menu is selected through said touch-sensitive panel, then causing said display section to display either said plurality of menus and a first menu display changing menu;

or the menus of high importance from said plurality of menus, a second menu display changing menu and said map;

if said first menu display changing menu is selected through said touch-sensitive panel, then causing said display section to replace the display of said plurality of menus and said first menu display changing menu with the display of the menus of high importance, said second menu display changing menu and said map; and

if said second menu display changing menu is selected through said touch-sensitive panel, then causing said display section to replace the display of said menus of high importance, said second menu display changing menu and said map with the display of said plurality of menus and said first menu display changing menu.

6. The navigation apparatus display method according to claim 5, further comprising the steps of:

when displaying said menus of high importance, said second menu display changing menu and said map, causing said display section to display said menus of high importance on one side of the center of said display screen and said map on the other side of said display screen; and

causing said map to be displayed in such a manner that the center of said map is aligned with the center of said other side of said display screen.

7. The navigation apparatus display method according to claim 5, wherein said menus of high importance are the menus to be verified on the display of said map.

8. The navigation apparatus display method according to claim 5, wherein said menus of high importance are the menus through which to accept the input of a destination from said map.
