Abstract

A method to automatically process social media data includes capturing captured data, describing actions and/or context relating a user across multiple social media systems. The captured data is stored within a database. One or more interfaces are provided in order to provide access to the stored captured data. A rules database is configured to store multiple social media rules (e.g., behaviors) that may be associated with a user. A behavior engine is configured to perform autonomous activities, on behalf of a user with respect to multiple social media platforms, based on the social medial rules and/or the captured data.

Claims

1. A method to automatically process social media systems, the method comprising:

capturing c data describing actions relating to a user across a plurality of social media systems;

storing the captured data in a database; and

presenting an interface to access the captured data.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the captured data includes:

first user behavior data pertaining to actions performed by the user across the plurality of social media systems, or

second user behavior data pertaining to actions relating to the user performed by or on behalf of a further user across the plurality of social media systems.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the captured data includes attributes relating the actions performed by the user, the attributes including one or more of:

a media attribute identifying at least one of the plurality of social media systems to which a first action of the actions relates;

a temporal attribute identifying a date and time at which the first action occurred;

a user attribute identifying the user as having performed the first action;

an entity attribute identifying an entity to which the first action relates; and

a type attribute indicating a type of action for the first action.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the storing of the captured data comprises deduplicating data items of the captured data.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the deduplicating of the data items includes identifying a first data item as relating to the user and a second data item relating to at least one further user as being duplicate data items.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the captured data comprises data items that relate to at least one of:

behavior data relating to actions performed in connection with at least one of the plurality of social media systems;

content data for content generated or identified by the user within the context of at least one of the plurality of social media systems; and

entity data identifying an entity with which the user has interacted in the context of at least one of the plurality of social media systems.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the storing of the captured data comprises prioritizing storage based on relevance of data items of a plurality of data items comprising the captured data.

8. The method of claim 7, including assessing the relevance of a data item of the plurality of data items according to a plurality of relevancy rules based on attributes of the data item.

9. The method of claim 1, comprising determining a storage charge relating to the storage of the captured data, and charging the storage charge to the user.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the interface is a graphical user interface configured to facilitate access to the captured data by the user.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the interface is a programmatic interface configured to facilitate access to the captured data by an automated process.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of social media systems include one or more of the following media types:

a social networking system,

a business networking system,

a virtual world system,

a messaging system, or

a blogging system

13. A method comprising:

storing programatic controls associated with a user in the database, and performing an autonomous activity on behalf of the user relating to at least one social media system of a plurality of social media systems based on the programmatic controls.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the autonomous activity is triggered by a condition expressed by at least one of the programmatic controls.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the condition is dependent upon the captured data describing actions relating to the user across the plurality of social media systems.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the condition is at least one of:

a user activity reflected in the the captured data,

a temporal condition,

a third-party action relating to the at least one social media system, or

an automated action relating to the at least one social media system.

17. The method of claim 13, wherein the autonomous activity is performed across two or more of the plurality of social media systems.

18. The method of claim 13, wherein the plurality of programmatic controls are embodied in an autonomous agent that functions as a representative of the user across the plurality of social media systems.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the autonomous agent is configured to access the captured data via an interface.

20. The method of claim 18, wherein the autonomous agent includes an agent interface to facilitate interactions between the autonomous agent and a further autonomous agent that functions as a representative of a further user across the plurality of social media systems.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the interactions between the autonomous agent and the further autonomous agent include a transfer of data items of the captured data between the autonomous agent and the further autonomous agent.

22. The method of claim 13, wherein the programmatic controls are at least one of a plurality of primitives, a plurality of social media systems rules or a script.

23. The method of claim 13, wherein a specific programmatic control of the programmatic controls is specific to a first social media system of the plurality of social media systems.

24. The method of claim 13, wherein a specific programmatic control of the programmatic controls is applicable across multiple media of the plurality of social media systems.

25. The method of claim 13, including automatically modifying the programmatic controls based on the captured data.

29. The system of claim 25, wherein the storage module is configured to deduplicate data items of the captured data.

46. The system of claim 25, wherein the interface is a graphical user interface configured to facilitate access to the captured data by the user.

47. The system of claim 25, wherein the interface is a programmatic interface configured to facilitate access to the captured data by an automated process.

48. The system of claim 25, wherein the plurality of social media systems include one or more of the following media types:

a social networking system,

a business networking system,

a virtual world system,

a messaging system, or

a blogging system.

26. A system to automatically process social media systems, the system comprising:

a data recorder configured to capture data describing actions relating to a user across a plurality of social media systems;

a storage module configured to store the captured data in a database; and

an interface configured to provide access to the captured data.

27. The system of claim 26, wherein the captured data includes:

user behavior data relating to actions performed by the user across the plurality of social media systems.

28. The system of claim 27, wherein the captured data includes attributes relating the actions performed by the user, the attributes including one or more of:

a media attribute identifying at least one of the plurality of social media systems to which a first action of the actions relates;

a temporal attribute identifying a date and time at which the first action occurred;

a user attribute identifying the user as having performed the first action;

an entity attribute identifying an entity to which the first action relates; and

a type attribute indicating a type of action for the first action.

30. The system of claim 26, wherein the storage module is configured to identify a first data item of the captured data relating to a first user and a second data item of the captured data relating to at least one further user as being duplicate data items.

31. The system of claim 26, wherein the captured data includes at least one of:

behavior data relating to actions performed in connection with at least one of the plurality of social media systems;

content data for content generated or identified by the user within the context of at least one of the plurality of social media systems; and

entity data identifying an entity with which the user has interacted in the context of at least one of the plurality of social media systems.

32. The system of claim 26, wherein the storage module is configured to store the captured data based on relevance of data items of a plurality of data items comprising the captured data.

33. The system of claim 32, wherein the storage module is configured to assess the relevance of a data item of the plurality of data items according to a plurality of relevancy rules based on attributes of the data item.

34. The system of claim 26, comprising a charge module to determine a storage charge relating to the storage of the captured data, and to charge the storage charge to the user.

35. The system of claim 26, comprising:

a rules database configured to store a plurality of social media systems rules] associated with the user; and

an autonomous agent configured to perform autonomous activity on behalf of the user relating to at least one of a social media system of the plurality of social media systems, based on the captured data and the plurality of social media systems rules.

36. The system of claim 35, wherein the autonomous agent is configured to perform the autonomous activity in response to a condition expressed by at least one of the plurality of social media systems rules.

37. The system of claim 36, wherein the condition is dependent upon historical events recorded by the captured data.

38. The system of claim 36, wherein the condition is at least one of:

a user activity reflected in user behavior data,

a temporal condition,

a third-party action relating to the social media system, or

an automated action relating to the social media system.

39. The system of claim 36, wherein the autonomous agent is configured to perform the autonomous activity across two or more of the plurality of social media systems.

40. The system of claim 36, wherein the autonomous agent is configured to access the captured data via the interface.

41. The system of claim 36, wherein the autonomous agent includes an agent interface to facilitate interactions between the autonomous agent and a further autonomous agent that functions as a representative of a further user across the plurality of social media systems.

42. The system of claim 41, wherein the autonomous agent includes an agent interface configured to enable a transfer of data items of the captured data between the autonomous agent and the further autonomous agent.

43. The system of claim 34, wherein a specific rule of the plurality of social media systems rules is specific to a first social media system of the plurality of social media systems.

44. The system of claim 34, wherein a specific rule of the plurality of social media systems rules is applicable across multiple media of the plurality of social media systems.

45. The system of claim 34, comprising an artificial intelligence module configured to automatically modify the plurality of social media systems rules based on the captured data.
