1. A method for monitoring a motor vehicle, comprising:
- monitoring whether a speed of the motor vehicle indicates a stopping condition of the motor vehicle;
detecting whether at least one vehicle operating condition indicating an imminent unintentional acceleration of the vehicle exists; and
triggering a fault response if (i) the vehicle is in the stopping condition and (ii) the at least one vehicle operating condition indicating an imminent unintentional acceleration of the vehicle exists.
