broadcasting the first message wireles sly to a component according to the standardized protocol.

Abstract
A method and apparatus is disclosed herein for sensor node and access point communication. In one embodiment, the method comprises embedding, by a sensor node, data from one or more sensor readings in a field of a first message, the field being designated as part of a standardized protocol to send information other than the data sensor readings; determining without the use of a receiver, by the sensor node, whether a wireless communication channel is at a predetermined quality level to send the first message; and broadcasting the first message wirelessly to a component according to the standardized protocol.

a wired communication interface; a first antenna, the first antenna to receive a probe request message, the probe request message having data from one or more sensor readings embedded in the probe request message; a radio coupled to the first antenna; and a processor coupled to the first and the wired communication interface, the processor to create, in response to the probe request message being received, a second message with the data from the one or more sensor readings and to send the second message to a destination via a wired network using the wired communication interface.
