Abstract

In one embodiment a plurality of transportation requests received from a plurality of subscribers to the transportation service are accessed, wherein a group of a plurality of drivers of the transportation receive one or more of the plurality of transportation requests. At least one performance score over a time period is generated for each driver of the group of drivers of the transportation service based at least in part on the transportation requests. A distribution of a compensation pool associated with the time period among the drivers of the group is determined according to the at least one performance score.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

accessing a plurality of transportation requests received from a plurality of subscribers to the transportation service;

wherein a group of a plurality of drivers of the transportation service receive one or more of the plurality of transportation requests;

generating at least one performance score over a time period for each driver of the group of drivers of the transportation service based at least in part on the transportation requests; and

determining a distribution of a compensation pool associated with the time period among the drivers of the group according to the at least one performance score.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining relative performances of the drivers of the group over the time period based at least on the at least one performance score for each driver of the group; and

determining the distribution of the compensation pool associated with the time period based on the relative performances of the drivers of the group over the time period.

The method of claim 2, further comprising generating an adjusted performance score for a driver of the group, wherein the adjusted performance score is based on a performance score of the driver and a characteristic associated with the driver, and wherein the adjusted performance score for the driver is used to determine the relative performance of the driver over the time period.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining at least one aggregate performance score for the group of drivers based on the transportation requests; and

determining a size of the compensation pool associated with the time period based at least in part on the at least one aggregate performance score.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising in response to receiving one or more additional transportation requests fulfilled by one or more drivers of the group, updating the at least one performance score for at least a subset of the group of drivers.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one performance score for each driver includes the aggregate revenue from transportation requests the driver has fulfilled over the time period.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the compensation pool comprises one or more of:

a plurality of shares of equity in an entity associated with the transportation service;

a plurality of stock options associated with the transportation service;

an amount of money;

a plurality of restricted stock shares; and

a plurality of restricted stock units.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the compensation pool comprises multiple different types of compensation.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising sending to a computing device of a driver of the group an indication of the driver'"'"'s current share of the compensation pool prior to the end of the time period.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining a monetary value corresponding to a plurality of equity related rights that represent at least a portion of the driver'"'"'s current share of the compensation pool; and

sending to a computing device of a driver of the group an indication of the monetary value of the plurality of equity related rights.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one performance score for each driver is based at least in part on one or more of:

an amount of time worked by the driver over the time period;

feedback scores received from passengers for the driver;

a safety record of the driver; and

a percentage of received transportation requests that are accepted and serviced by the driver.

12. An apparatus comprising:

a communication interface; and

at least one processor to;

access a plurality of transportation requests received from a plurality of subscribers to the transportation service;

wherein a group of a plurality of drivers of the transportation service receive one or more of the plurality of transportation requests;

generate at least one performance score over a time period for each driver of the group of drivers of the transportation service based at least in part on the transportation requests; and

determine a distribution of a compensation pool associated with the time period among the drivers of the group according to the at least one performance score.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the at least one processor is further to:

determine relative performances of the drivers of the group over the time period based at least on the at least one performance score for each driver of the group; and

determine the distribution of the compensation pool associated with the time period based on the relative performances of the drivers of the group over the time period.

14. The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the at least one processor is further to:

generate an adjusted performance score for a driver of the group, wherein the adjusted performance score is based on a performance score of the driver and a characteristic associated with the driver, and wherein the adjusted performance score for the driver is used to determine the relative performance of the driver over the time period.

15. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the at least one processor is further to:

determine at least one aggregate performance score for the group of drivers based on the transportation requests; and

determine a size of the compensation pool associated with the time period based at least in part on the at least one aggregate performance score.

16. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the at least one processor is further to:

in response to receiving one or more additional transportation requests fulfilled by one or more drivers of the group, update the at least one performance score for at least a subset of the group of drivers.

17. At least one computer-readable non-transitory media comprising one or more instructions that when executed by at least one processor configure the at least one processor to cause the performance of operations comprising:

accessing a plurality of transportation requests received from a plurality of subscribers to the transportation service;

wherein a group of a plurality of drivers of the transportation service receive one or more of the plurality of transportation requests;

generating at least one performance score over a time period for each driver of the group of drivers of the transportation service based at least in part on the transportation requests; and

determining a distribution of a compensation pool associated with the time period among the drivers of the group according to the at least one performance score.

18. The media of claim 17, wherein the instructions are further to cause the performance of:

determining relative performances of the drivers of the group over the time period based at least on the at least one performance score for each driver of the group; and

determining the distribution of the compensation pool associated with the time period based on the relative performances of the drivers of the group over the time period.

19. The media of claim 18, wherein the instructions are further to cause the performance of:

generating an adjusted performance score for a driver of the group, wherein the adjusted performance score is based on a performance score of the driver and a characteristic associated with the driver, and wherein the adjusted performance score for the driver is used to determine the relative performance of the driver over the time period.

20. The media of claim 17, wherein the instructions are further to cause the performance of:

determining at least one aggregate performance score for the group of drivers based on the transportation requests; and

determining a size of the compensation pool associated with the time period based at least in part on the at least one aggregate performance score.
