Abstract

In some embodiments, a method includes establishing a communications link between a computing device and an adapter. The adapter is configured to receive at least a portion of a medicament delivery device. A wireless signal is received to maintain the communications link. A relative position between the computing device and the adapter is determined. An alarm is produced when the wireless signal is not received within a time period. The alarm is based on the relative position between the computing device and the adapter.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

establishing a communications link, via a short-range wireless protocol, between a computing device and a medicament delivery device, the medicament delivery device including an electronic circuit system, the electronic circuit system including a radio;

receiving a first wireless signal from the radio to maintain the communications link, the first wireless signal being periodic;

producing a first alarm when the first wireless signal is not received within a time period, the first alarm indicating that the computing device is out of a communication range of the medicament delivery device;

receiving a user input in response to a location prompt; and

transmitting to the radio a second wireless signal, the second wireless signal including instructions that, when received by the radio, cause the electronic circuit system to produce a second alarm, the second alarm including at least one of an audible output or a visual output.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the medicament delivery device is any one of an auto-injector, a nasal delivery device or an inhaler.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining, based at least in part on the first wireless signal, a location of the medicament delivery device; and

producing, via the computing device, a location alert indicating the location.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a third wireless signal from the radio, the third wireless signal associated with a temperature of the medicament delivery device; and

producing a third alarm in response to the third wireless signal, the third alarm indicating that the temperature is outside of a temperature range.

5. A method, comprising:

establishing a communications link, via a short-range wireless protocol, between a mobile computing device and a medicament delivery device, the mobile computing device including a screen configured to display an authentication prompt, access to the mobile computing device being limited until an authentication is entered in response to the authentication prompt, the medicament delivery device including an actuator and an electronic circuit system, the actuator configured to initiate delivery of a medicament, the electronic circuit system including a radio and a sensor, the sensor configured to produce an actuation signal in response to movement of the actuator,

employing the communication link to communicate information associated with the actuation signal; and

producing, via the screen and in response to the communicated information, an emergency prompt providing access to the mobile computing device without entry of the authentication, the emergency prompt associated with a use of the medicament delivery device.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

receiving, in response to the emergency prompt, a user input;

transmitting, in response to the user input and via the screen, an instruction; and

producing, via at least one of the mobile computing device or the electronic circuit system, an alarm in response to the actuation signal indicating the use of the medicament delivery device.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein the medicament delivery device is an auto-injector configured to deliver at least one of a dose of epinephrine, a dose of naloxone, or a dose of glucagon.

8. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

receiving, in response to the emergency prompt, a user input; and

transmitting from the mobile computing device a notification to be received by an emergency personnel.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein:

the sensor is a switch; and

the actuator includes a first portion configured to initiate delivery of the medicament and a second portion configured to contact the switch.

10. A non-transitory processor readable medium storing code representing instructions to be executed by a processor, the code comprising code to cause the processor to:

establish a short-range wireless protocol communications link between a mobile computing device and a medicament delivery device, the mobile computing device including a screen, the medicament delivery device including an actuator and an electronic circuit system, the actuator configured to initiate delivery of a medicament, the electronic circuit system including a radio and a sensor, the sensor configured to produce an actuation signal in response to movement of the actuator;

receive a wireless signal from the radio;

identify the wireless signal as being in response to the actuation signal;

produce, via the screen, an emergency prompt associated with a use of the medicament delivery device;

receive, in response to the emergency prompt, a user input; and

transmit, in response to the user input and via the screen, an instruction.

11. The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 10, wherein the medicament delivery device is an auto-injector configured to deliver at least one of a dose of epinephrine, a dose of naloxone, or a dose of glucagon.

12. The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 10, wherein the emergency prompt is a first emergency prompt, the code stored in the non-transitory processor readable medium further comprising code to cause the processor to:

produce a second emergency prompt associated with any one of an emergency phone number or an emergency contact.

13. The non-transitory processor readable medium of claim 10, wherein:

the mobile computing device is configured to display a lock screen having a password prompt, access to the mobile computing device being limited until a password is entered in response to the password prompt; and

the emergency prompt provides access to the mobile computing device without entry of the password.
