1. A method of providing information regarding a content of a memory of a handheld electronic device, the method comprising:

  • receiving a name of a particular file that was added to the memory and an indication that the particular file was added to the memory;

    responsive to said receiving, deducing that a particular object has been stored in the memory by;

    (i) for a particular location seeking in the memory a file name of a file that comprises the particular location, and (ii) making a determination that the file name of the file in the memory that comprises the particular location is the same as the name of the particular file that was added to the memory;

    responsive to said deducing, providing to another device a representation of the particular location, said representation indicating that the particular object has been stored in the memory;

    providing to the another device a data set representative of at least a portion of the content of the memory, said providing to the another device a representation of the particular location comprising providing to the another device an update to the data set that includes the representation of the particular location;

    storing on the handheld electronic device a data table comprising;

    a plurality of first objects that each comprise a name of a memory file in the memory that comprises a location associated with the memory file, andassociated with each one of the first objects, a second object that comprises the location associated with the memory file of the one of the first objects andproviding as at least a portion of the data set at least a portion of the data table, said at least a portion of the data table comprising for each one of the plurality of first objects a representation of the location associated with the memory file of the one of the plurality of first objects.
